Tranquil rural cottage in scenic location

Leo R September 2011 Tranquil rural cottage in scenic location We had a fantastic stay in this cosy cottage accomodation. Paula and Ram made us feel very welcome which made it even more memorable for us and the kids. The accomodation is very comfortable and rustic and the river just outside made sitting in the garden listening to the water very relaxing. Lots of little extras like herbs and spices in the kitchen and fruit trees out the back made our stay even better. The meal we had in the main house was a fantastic Indian spread and very...

Stayed September 2012, travelled with friends

Sept 2012 Peter B Stayed September 2012, travelled with friends Have visited Tourne many times and never tired of being there and experiencing the warm, friendly and relaxing atmosphere that Paula and Ram provide in their beautiful old house. It is a large house with ample space, set in extensive attractive gardens beside a small river in a secluded, wooded valley. There is a deep and nourishing, peaceful feel to the place. And yet, it is only 1km or so up a quiet road from Castelnau Durban on the main Foix to St. Giron road, so there is easy access to many local attractions. The bedrooms are all comfortable and attractively furnished and decorated. The dining room is large and well equipped. There is a cosy and comfortable lounge and the bathrooms are all modern and recently refurbished. Paula and Ram are excellent cooks, so the food is delicious and made from locally sourced fresh produce. Over the years since they arrived at Tourne from the UK, Ram and Paula have got to know many local people and places, so they can advise you on all the best places to visit, whether you want to explore the local area with all its wonderful walks, or visit caves, lakes and other natural attractions, or enjoy local markets, shops, churches, castles or other cultural...

Lacazas 12th Century Church

Lacazas is a small hamlet that can be accessed on foot from the gardens at Tourné. The path leading to Lacazas is ancient and has been walked for hundreds of years. Along the way you will see ancient mine shafts where semi precious metals were mined and brought down the footpath to Tourné. at the Hamlet of Lacazas can be seen a fine example of a twelfth century church and a chateau after which the village of Castelnau Durban was named-the new castle at Durban. From Lacazas the walk continues to the village of Castlenau Durban,  by bridge that crosses the...
